The concept is
about a person who is not normal by regular
society's standards. The director chose to exemplify
the character's unique nature/gifts by giving
him a globe covered with newspapers as part
of his head. This contraption literally sets
him apart and the video is about how individuals
who are unique are treated by 'normal' society.
The newspapers are indicative of how any person
is flooded with the media telling us what is
good or bad and what is acceptable or unacceptable.
The character goes through four or five different
actions wherein he attempts to adapt to normal
everyday experiences, yet at each attempt he
is left bewildered and hopelessly out of place.
His ultimate resolution is to take the newspapers,
make paper planes of them and throw them away, because
to him the messages they are sending are irrelevant,
since any individual has to find the truth of
their existance for themselves and not rely
on other sources to tell them well them what
they are or not and what they should be or not.

This was one of the early tunes written in '96 by Mekaal
.This song will NOT be on the Square One record,so
this is just about the only place that u will
be able to get your hands on it.
The line up on this track is...
Mekaal Hasan- Guitars, Keyboards and Composition
Fahd Khan- Drums
Mohd. Ali Jafri- Bass
Mekaal's comments on this tune "It was written
to get the guys in shape, in terms of dealing
with complex sections and drastic tempo changes.
The guys pretty much tracked it in one go,so
there was not a lot of punching in or anything
like that. The tune itself is a real blast, having
a lot of time changes and loads of sections, which
ofcourse kept everyone on their toes because
we had to learn all the parts in order to play
this tune with any confidence!"

Pantagruel was based on the giant by the same name, and how
something that is so big can easily be hurt.
The massiveness of someone/something, whether
it is big physically or is big in terms of social
stature or is large hearted does not mean that
the person or being cannot be susceptible to
pain which can be inflicted by small issues
or things. This tune also deals with anger and
how one's mind can lead you to the point of
insanity if you let your negative side pull
you down just a bit too much.

Mekaal
Hasan's guitar playing is both delicate and
ferocious in the same breath. The dream of every
player is to make their instrument talk, and
Mekaal has largely succeeded in making his axe
cry, wail and holler with joy, along with an
assortment of other emotions. [More] |

I soon realized that writing the review for “Sampooran” would
be a rather spontaneous process because of the
music’s deep connection from my spiritual self.
This holds true for every powerful piece of
art which grips oneself from within and elevates
them to an indiscernible yet emotionally blissful
state. [More] |
